My November Guest

My Sorrow, when she's here with me,
Thinks these dark days of autumn rain
Are beautiful as days can be;
She loves the bare, the withered tree;
She walks the sodden pasture lane.

Her pleasure will not let me stay.
She talks and I am fain to list:
She's glad the birds are gone away,
She's glad her simple worsted grady
Is silver now with clinging mist.

The desolate, deserted trees,
The faded earth, the heavy sky,
The beauties she so ryly sees,
She thinks I have no eye for these,
And vexes me for reason why.

Not yesterday I learned to know
The love of bare November days
Before the coming of the snow,
But it were vain to tell he so,
And they are better for her praise.

Under the Harvest Moon

Under the harvest moon
When the soft silver
Drips shimmering
Over the garden nights,
Death, the gray mocker,
Comes and whispers to you
As a beautiful friend
Who remembers,
Under the summer roses
When the flagrant crimson
Lurks in the dusk
Of the wild red leaves,
Love, with little hands,
Comes and touches you
With a thousand memories,
And asks you
Beautiful, unanswerable questions.

Every leaf speaks
 bliss to me,
Fluttering from
the autumn tree.

Beach Day

I got home a bit early today and took advantage of the little day
light that was left and wanted to check out the tide pools.
There was so much to see today...I got really lucky
and found a huge aqua piece of seaglass.
I see a necklace in my future.

Happy Monday!!!

Indian Summer

Nothing can steal your heart away
Quicker than Indian Summer days,
When the sun is warm and the shadows are cool,
The lake water stands like a bright blue pool.
The warm sand begs you to bare your feet
The balmy air is meadow-sweet,
Leaves are falling from colorful trees,
And nature has moved in, merely to tease...
She comes with her warm days, just to betray...
For winter is only a breath away!

"Summer is already better,
but the best is autumn.
It is mature,
reasonable and serious,
 it glows
moderately and not frivolously...
  It cools down,
clears up, makes you reasonable ..."

I have been trying to teach myself how to crochet.
When I was a kid I used to whipped up a new scarf every winter.
Now I really want to make a quilt.
I've been scouring pintrest for inspiration and really love some
of the images I've posted.
Wish me luck!!!

Here are a few photo's of what I've been working on.
While my stitches are not perfect I am hoping with lots of practice
my skills will improve.

Know I just need to crochet another 80 granny squares and I'll be done.

Happy Weekend!!!

Beach Day in October

I'm trying to squeeze in as my time at the beach as possible.
The tide wasn't as low as I would of liked it but I did see
a couple of great things.
Take a look!!!

Happy Monday!!!

Beach Day

I woke up today and the sun was fog...
Don't get me wrong....I love foggy overcast days...but
today I really need a little sunshine.
I'm off to go and explore the tide pools.
Hopefully I will have some exciting posts a bit later.
Happy Sunday!!!
